Kalki, the tenth and final avatar of Vishnu is the incarnation that is yet to come. When Krishna ascended to heaven, the Kali Yuga began. This is the final age on earth as it decays to its inevitable end at the completion of the four Yugas. Kalki would arrive on earth to end this final and degenerate age. After that a new cycle of Yugas will begin with the Krita or Satya Yuga, when righteousness and prosperity will once again prevail on earth.
Kalki, as an avatar that has not yet appeared, naturally has no myths but the Puranas are full of descriptions of the state of the earth when he will arrive. He will appear when falsehood and wickedness fills the earth and tyrannical kings rule everywhere who kill women, children, and cows. The worship of the gods will wane and the people will take refuge from flowers, and leaves.
The Kalki Avatar is depicted as a man riding a white horse and with a sword in his hand. Sometimes he is described as a giant with a horse’s head.
The Kalki Purana predicts that he would be born in a Brahmin family and will have superhuman qualities. he will annihilate the wicked, save the good and re-establish the rule of righteousness on earth. Brahma will then awake from his cosmic sleep to begin the work of creation and the next Krita Yuga will then begin.
